Do we need a subscription?

No. The core lunchbox experience is free, including the parent-approved menu, building lunchboxes, local saved boxes and parent-gated Yum Cards. Optional Kiddos+ is for benefits in participating apps; it is not required to use Yum’s core features.

Who chooses the foods that appear?

A grown-up sets the Yum Menu. Children choose from those approved foods. If the menu changes, the current box resets so it reflects the latest parent choices.

Can a child who cannot read use it?

Big food pictures support choosing by sight, and tapping a food in the lunchbox can speak its name. Introduce the activity together and offer a manageable set of choices.

Can we reuse or share a lunchbox?

Yes. Save favorite boxes locally and remake one that worked. Sharing a Yum Card requires the grown-up gate and uses the device’s share sheet. There is no public feed.

Does Yum check allergies or tell us what to eat?

No. Parents check ingredients, allergies, preparation and individual needs. Yum supports shared choice; it does not provide nutrition advice, therapy, calorie targets or a guarantee that a child will eat a particular food.

Is the website lunchbox the same as the app?

It is a small demonstration using app artwork and a fixed illustrative menu. The app adds your own parent-approved menu, spoken food names, saved boxes and parent-controlled sharing.

Where is Kiddos+ available?

Kiddos+ is currently offered in the United States. New purchase availability depends on the Apple storefront, available products and successful iCloud setup. Individual app availability and standalone plans can differ. The in-app purchase screen shows the options available to you.

How do I restore Kiddos+ on another device?

Connect to the internet and open the app originally used to subscribe. In its grown-up settings, use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account that made the purchase. Check iCloud is enabled for the account being used, then open the other participating Kiddos apps. Cross-app membership recognition and Apple Family Sharing are different: do not assume that a different family member’s Apple Account is eligible. Check the subscription’s current Apple sharing settings or contact us before buying again.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Use the subscription controls in the original purchasing app or your device’s Apple subscription settings. Apple shows the current price, renewal date, cancellation and any eligible sharing options. Removing an app does not cancel an Apple-billed subscription.

Is the free app sample a subscription trial?

No. An app-provided book selection or learning, listening or play allowance is separate from an Apple subscription trial. The app explains its current sample. If an Apple trial is offered, eligibility, duration, price and automatic-renewal terms are shown before the grown-up confirms the purchase.

What can I ask Siri?
Update preview

Use the app name to start a box, revisit saved boxes, or ask for a suggestion from your parent-approved menu.

  • Siri, start a new lunchbox in Kiddos Yum.Save the current draft through the usual flow and start a fresh box.
  • Siri, show my lunchboxes in Kiddos Yum.Open Saved Boxes.
  • Siri, open the menu in Kiddos Yum.Open the grown-up Yum Menu through its parent gate.
  • Siri, surprise me in Kiddos Yum.Request a lunchbox suggestion using enabled foods.

These four English requests have been checked by voice. Suggestions are choices to review together, not allergy checks or nutrition advice. A shortcut cannot enable foods that the parent has excluded.

What can I search for in Spotlight?
Update preview

Search for Kiddos Yum to find the app and its available New, Browse, Menu and Surprise Me actions.

  • Kiddos YumUse New for a fresh box, Browse for Saved Boxes, or Menu for parent choices.

Yum deliberately does not index foods, saved lunchboxes, child names or meal preferences. Searching Spotlight for “apple” or a saved box will not find your family’s Yum content. Use the app to see those choices.

What does the Home Screen widget do?
Update preview

Your Lunchbox shows one complete character-inspired suggestion with four distinct parent-enabled foods: Main, Fruit, Veggie and Snack. Tap the tray to open that exact suggestion in the builder; an existing draft is preserved through normal autosave.

Small, medium, large and iPad extra-large layouts keep the whole tray visible. If the menu cannot fill all four categories, Choose Lunch opens the app instead. The widget does not rotate on a timer or change your child’s box in the background.

Add it to your Home Screen

  1. When the update is available, install it and open the app to complete setup.
  2. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen. Choose Edit, then Add Widget, and find Kiddos Yum.
  3. Choose a size, add the widget, then finish editing. On older system versions, the gallery may use a + button.
How can I use the app with Shortcuts?
Update preview

In Apple’s Shortcuts app, search for Kiddos Yum. Its quick actions are New, Browse, Menu and Surprise Me. Saved shortcuts may also use the existing builder and favorite-lunchbox actions.

  • Lunchbox timeSave Build Today’s Lunchbox to open the current builder without requesting a fresh box.
  • A little inspirationSave Suggest Today’s Lunchbox to review a suggestion from your current menu.

New and opening the current builder are different actions. Parent-menu changes still require the grown-up gate. Saved boxes remain on the device; a shortcut does not send them to a public feed.

Make a shortcut

  1. Open Shortcuts, start a new shortcut and search the action list for Kiddos Yum.
  2. Choose an available action, fill in any choices and give the shortcut a clear name.
  3. Run it once with a grown-up to check the result. Keep any app setup, unlock or parent confirmation in place.
Why can’t I see an action, search result or widget yet?
Getting ready

This is an update preview. Some described features may not be in your installed App Store version yet. Check the app’s release notes when an update becomes available.

The examples use English. Features can depend on device, system version, language and region. Some natural-language requests need a supported on-device model; simple named actions are a separate feature. Apple’s Siri service has its own processing rules, even when an app’s own helper runs on device. These native features do not run on this website.

A few things to check

  1. After updating, open the app and finish its initial setup before trying system actions.
  2. For missing search results, check the app’s Show App in Search and Show Content in Search settings. Siri also needs to be enabled for the app where that setting is offered.
  3. If a spoken request fails, try the matching action in Shortcuts or open the app directly. Apple controls recognition, result order and how many quick actions fit on screen.
